Past continuous tense:-
Past continuous Tense को मतलब कोई कार्य भूतकाल में जारी था या चल रहा था।
Past continuous Tense को कैसे पहचानेंगे?
Sentence (वाक्य) के अंत मैं क्रिया के कुछ शब्द आते हैं जैसे की , रहा था / रही थी / रहे थे तो |
- Main verb ( मुख्य क्रिया) 1st form + ing का प्रयोग ।
- Helping verb ( सहायक क्रिया ) = was, were का use करना है ।
- Was का use – हम was का इस्तेमाल तभी करेंगे जब subject I हो या फिर कोई 3rd person singular subject हो।
- Were का use – जब subject you ये फिर plural हो।

Past continuous tense को तीन वाक्य मैं use किया जाता है:-
- Affirmative sentence (सकारात्मक वाक्य)
- Negative sentence (नकारात्मक वाक्य)
- Interrogative sentence (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)
Past continuous tense को affirmative sentence (सकारात्मक वाक्य) मैं use करते है:-
Affirmative sentence मैं नाही question (प्रश्न) किया जाता है और नाही not का use किया जाता है।
Basic rule ( बुनियाद नियम) :-
[Subject was/were + verb 1st + ing + object + other ]
ऊपर के इस rule (नियम) को follow कर के हम असानीसे sentence (वाक्य) बना सकते हैं:-
मै खेल रहा था । ( I was playing.)
उपर के इस उदाहरण पे i subject हे और singular person हे इस लिया उसके बाद helping verb (सहायक क्रिया) was है, verb (क्रिया) play के साथ ing जुडा है |
चलिए कुछ और उदाहरण देखें :-
- वह पढ रहा था । ( He was reading.)
- हम काम कर रहे थे । (We were doing work.)
- तुम बहुत ज्यादा मेहनत कर रहे थे । (You were working very hard.)
- तुम स्कूल जा रहे थे । ( You were going to school.)
- रिया गाना गा रही थी । ( Riya was singing a song.)
- वे दौड़ रहे थे । ( They were running.)
- मैं एक पत्र लिख रहा था । ( I was writing a letter.)
- हम गा रहे थे । ( We were singing.)
- लड़कियां स्कूल जा रही थी । ( The girls were going to school.)
- छात्र लड़ रहे थे । ( The Students were fighting.)
- तुम मेरी तरफ देख रहे थे । ( You were looking at me.)
Past continuous tense को Negative sentence (नकारात्मक वाक्य मैं) use करते है:-
इस का basic rule( बुनियाद नियम) हे:
[Subject + was/were + not + verb 1st + ing+ object+ other]
ऊपर के इस rule (नियम) को follow कर के हम असानीसे sentence (वाक्य) बना सकते हैं:-
- मैं नहीं दौड़ रहा था । ( I was not running.)
- वह नहीं पढ रहा था । ( He was not reading.)
- कुत्ता नहीं भौंक रहा था । ( The dog was not barking.)
- हम नहीं खेल रहे थे । ( We were not playing.)
Past continuous tense को interrogative sentence (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य) मैं use करते है:-
इस का basic rule( बुनियाद नियम) हे:-
[Was/were+ Subject + verb 1st +ing+ object +other + question mark (?)]
एक चीज सभी गलती करते हैं की sentence ( वाक्य) interrogative करने के बाद हम question mark (?) लगाना भूल जाते हैं।
चलिए कुछ उदाहरण देखते है:–
- क्या वह किताब पढ रहा था? ( Was he reading a book?)
- क्या वह सड़क पार कर रही थी? (was she crossing the road?)
- क्या हम जयपुर जा रहे थे? ( Were we going to Jaipur?)
- क्या वे खेल रहे थे ? ( Were they playing?)
कभी कभी past continuous tense मैं interrogative sentence और negative sentence को साथ मैं देखा जाता है:-
इस तरह के sentences मैं not का बी use होता है और question mark (?) बी होता है ।
इस का basic rule( बुनियाद नियम) हे:-
[Was/were + Subject + not + verb 1st+ ing+ object+ other + question mark (?)]
चलिए कुछ उदाहरण देखते है:-
- क्या सुमन नही पढ रहा था? ( Was Suman not reading?)
- क्या तुम नहीं दौड़ रहे थे ? ( Were you not running?)
- क्या हम शिमला नहीं जा रहे थे ? ( Were we not going to Shimla?)
- क्या वे खेल नहीं रहे थे ? ( Were they not playing?)
Past continuous Tense मैं Wh Family का use कैसे करें?
Wh words :- Why (क्यों) , when (कब), How (कैसे), where(कहाँ ), what (कया), which (कोनसा), whose (किसका), who(कोन), whom(किसको)।
Basic rule ( बुनियाद नियम):-
[wh words was/were + subject + (not)+verb 1st + ing + object + others + question mark(?)]
चलिए कुछ उदाहरण देखते है:-
- वह क्या पढ रहा था? ( What was he reading?)
- वे कन्हा खेल रहे थे? ( Where was he playing?)
- हम शिमला कब जा रहे थे ( when were we going to Shimla?)
- तुम क्यों नहीं दौड़ रहे थे? ( Why were you not running?)
NOTE (ध्यान दें):-
जब past मैं कोई दो कार्या एक साथ हो रहा था , तो दोनों मैं past continuous का use होगा।
उदाहरण देखते है:-
- जब वह खाना बना रही थी, मैं कपडे धो रहा था। (While she was cooking, I was washing the cloths.)
- जब वे खेल रहे थे, मैं टी.बी देख रहा था। (While they were playing, I was watching T.V)
- जब वह उपन्यास लिख रही थी , बिजय पढ रहा था। (While she was writing a novel, Bijoy was reading.)
NOTE (ध्यान दें):-
जब कोई कार्य जारी था ओर उसी समय कोई घटना घटित हुई हो।
Former action – past continuous, Latter action – Past indefinite.
उदाहरण देखते है:-
- मेरा भाई पढ़ रहा था जब मैं घर पहुँचा । (My brother was reading when I reached home.)
- जब वह मेरे घर आया तब मैं स्नान कर रहा था । (I was taking bath when he came to my house.)
चलिए कुछ Exercise देखते हैं :–
- मैं एक पत्र खोज रहा था।
- वह गाना गा रही थी।
- मैं स्कूल जा रहा था।
- नीरज झूला झूल रहा था ।
- मधु खाना पका रही थी ।
- मैं लिख रहा था ।
- हम फिल्म देख रहे थे।
