In this lesson we are going to learn about Classification of words, how to building a word.

Classification of words:-

Words can be can be classified into four categories.

  1. Naming words.
  2. Action words.
  3. Describing words.
  4. Pronouns.

1. Naming words:-

Naming words are everything around us has a name such as people, places, animals and things. All naming words are called nouns.

Examples of Naming words:-
  1. My name is Raja.
    In this example Raja is the naming word.
  2. I have a black dog.
    In this example dog is the naming word.
  3. He leaves in India.
    In this example India is the naming word.
  4. Ram is my best friend.
    In this example Ram is the naming word.
  5. This is my cat.
    In this example cat is the naming word.

Naming words are divide into four types:-

a. Name.

b. Place.

c. Thing.

d. Animal.

e. Idea.

a. Name:-

Name means name of the people. Ram, Raja, Susmita, Amrit, Laxman, Etc.

For example:-

  1. Ram is my best friend.
  2. Riya is a good girl.
  3. Rima is my classmate.
b. Place:-

Place means name of the place. India, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai etc.

For example:-

  1. Delhi is the capital of India.
  2. Kolkata is known as City of Joy.
  3. Mumbai is my home town.
c. Things:-

Things means name of the things like window, door, table, chair etc.

For example:-

  1. Ram is sitting on the chair.
  2. Open the door.
  3. He wants to buy a new chair.
d. Animal:-

Name of the animals like dog, cat, mouse, lion etc.

For example:-

  1. He walks his dog every morning.
  2. She likes to eat fish.
  3. The national animal of India is Royal Bengal tiger.
e. Idea:-

The difference between an idea and a thing is the fact that we cannot touch an idea and we can always touch a thing.

For example:-

  1. He was feeling cold.
  2. The ice cream melted because the room was so warm.

2. Action words:-

Action words are those words that state an action. Don’t be confuse between action and action words.

Example of Action words:-
  1. Shamik was studying for his exam
    In this example studying is the action words.
  2. Ram was walking along the ground.
    In this example walking is the action words.
  3. I love walking in the morning.
    In this example walking is the action words.

3. Describing words:-

Describing words are those words that describe a naming word. Color, quantity, shape, size, quality, sound those words are known as describing words.

Color- Red, Green, Blue etc.
Sound:- High, low, medium etc.
Quantity:- Few, large, many etc.
Size:- Big, small, medium etc.

Example of Describing words
  1. He was wearing a blue shirt.
    In this example skirt is a thing and red is the describing word for that thing.
  2. The floor was quite smooth.
    In this example floor is the thing and smooth is the describing word for that thing.
  3. My internet is very fast.
    In this example fast is the describing word.

4. Pronouns:-

Pronouns are the words that are used in place of naming words.

Example of Pronouns:-
  1. He is a good singer.
    In this example He is the Pronouns.
  2. She is my best friend.
    In this example She is the Pronouns.
  3. I went to the market to get Ice Cream.
    In this example I is the Pronouns.
